i love shoes, feminism, equality, gender nonconformity, activism, and calling out the patriarchy. i am the former president of the jackson area national organization for women http://jackson.nowms.org and currently an intern at planned parenthood.

i have a blog with a lot of varying themes http://ladylamia.wordpress.com but i wanted something that was strictly for my activism and feminism, so here you are!

the views and opinions expressed in these blogs are my personal views and opinions, they are not the official positions of the national organization for women (NOW), planned parenthood, or any other organization that i am or have been affiliated with.

Louisiana Republican Wants to Sterilize Poor Women →

i’m pretty speechless on this one.

…If you don’t think that’s bad enough, his ingenious plan includes giving more tax incentives to “college-educated, higher-income people to have more children.” He has already earned the ire of advocacy groups who call his plan blatantly racist, sexist, and immoral. He has argued that more white people than black people are on welfare, so race is not an issue.

How Your Brain May Be Different Than a Conservative's →

my first snarky thought to that headline: “you mean other than just having one?” i haven’t posted in forever, i will try to be better about that. i have two internships going on right now, one with planned parenthood and one with a non-profit org dealing with mental health so i’m super busy getting ready to graduate in may!!!! (it only took me 12 years.)

now the article:

Liberals have more gray matter in a part of the brain associated with understanding complexity, while the conservative brain is bigger in the section related to processing fear, said the study on Thursday in Current Biology.

very interesting, albeit short article. looking forward to hearing more about this study (and more studies like it perhaps?)
